Shuman Park is getting the much needed attention it deserves and part of it is coming from the Tremonton Women’s Civic League.
The League will be donating $5,000 toward the construction of restrooms at the park and wants to continue donating to help expand the bowery and add more trees around the playground.
The push to build the restrooms came from the community’s interest in building a splash pad on the old existing tennis courts. The Tremonton City Council has already agreed to donate the land for the splash pad and agreed to help in the building process. The city has not agreed to fund the project. They are leaving fundraising efforts up to a committee. One has already been planned for Aug. 17.
Each year the members of the Civic League raise funds on their own. They sell calendars, raffle off quilts, have home shows and sit in booths at local events to raise money.
“We just appreciate your support,” councilman Lyle Holmgren said during Tuesday night’s Tremonton City Council meeting.
