Grass fire near Riverside

On Thursday, July 12, a grass fire started near the off ramp of I-15 by mm 385 at about 1:30 p.m. According to Garland Fire Department secretary Bill Bishop the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Flames spread through 60 acres of grass and sage brush, along with about a fourth of an acre of wheat but the department is unsure who owns this property at this time. He said, “Tremonton, Garland and Fielding fire departments all responded as well as a lot of local farmers, which helped an awful lot. We were fairly limited on resources because several fire units are out west fighting fires.” The fire was contained at about 3:30 p.m., but several units stayed on scene until 5:30 p.m.
