Orson and Jeannette Poulsen, now Elder and Sister Poulsen, report a very busy schedule. They are in two shows, a zippy musical called “Rendevouz at Old Nauvoo,” and a variety show on an outdoor stage called “Sunset on the Mississippi.” The Young Performing Missionaries paid the area a visit joining performers on stage and also sang from a horse-drawn carriage.
Recently the Poulsens visited Hannibal, Mo., home of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. It is fairly close to Nauvoo. While there they got to ride on a steamboat (now motorized). Also in Hannibal there were lots of fun shops to visit.
Elder and Sister Poulsen enjoy ‘working’ together in various locations for six-hour shifts. “We take some short naps when we can,” Jeannette says.
Orson is in “seventh heaven” when he can do things with the horses. He has been driving teams around Nauvoo. He starts at 7 a.m. and finishes at 5p.m. This will last until September.
Kaye Draper is feeling better, but the pain that comes puts her right to bed. The pain pills do help. She and Bill Bolton’s family helped him have a good Father’s Day.
Laura Wheatley stayed home most of the week. She helped Everly and Georgia make Father’s Day cards from construction paper and crayons. The Wheatley peach trees have fruit as big as walnuts now.
Cleo and Gary Petit received family after church for Father’s Day. All had fun. Gary also received phone calls for Father’s Day from various family members. The Petit garden is all planted and growing. Cleo went dancing on Wednesday.
Tyrell Udy reports many activities on the ranch. Among them is more fencing, working the horse arena for a ride once in a while and digging firebreaks.
On Tuesday Winnie Richman took Clynn to a doctor’s appointment in Ogden. “Thank you, Carolyn, for taking the kids to their piano lesson’, Winnie says.
On Wednesday Winnie, Carolyn Carter, and Zach and Skyler Richman went to art. Skyler finished his picture and so did Winnie. Winnie and Carolyn both have other canvasses waiting.
On Friday Winnie went to granddaughter, Brittney’s birthday party in Brigham City. Cake and ice cream were served. After, Winnie, Skyler, Zach and Marriah joined son, Lyle, and Reagen and Brantzen Richman at the movies for Madagascar 3. “It was fun in 3-D”, Winnie says.
On Sunday Reagan Richman celebrated his tenth birthday and Clynn celebrated Father’s Day with cake and ice cream. The cake was decorated with a huge ladybug. Reagen and Clynn opened their presents.
Jim and Starr Mitchell had a great Father’s Day. They went to church with son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Ashley Mitchell, and then the foursome went to breakfast at J & D’s in Brigham City.
On Wednesday Jim, Starr and friend Al hopped on Al’s boat and went fishing. Starr caught a walleye and a nice catfish, which they ate for dinner.
