A 46-year-old Brigham City man died in a motorcycle crash on I-15 late Monday night.

A report from Utah Highway Patrol said Royce Wayne Munns was traveling southbound on a 1982 Suzuki near milepost 352 at about 10:45 p.m.  The bike hit a mattress that was blocking the lane of travel near that location.  Munns was thrown from the motorcycle, suffering severe head trauma.  He was not wearing a helmet.

The southbound lanes were closed for approximately two hours.

UHP Lt. Lee Perry said his department later got a call from a man who said the mattress may have fallen from his vehicle in that area.  The incident is still under investigation.
