Tourism awards grant money
Museum to get funds
After reviewing approximately $319,000 in requests for a portion of grant money, the Box Elder County Tourism Tax Advisory Board recently announce the funding of 47 projects for approximately $120,000.
Of that awarded grant money, the Bear River Valley Museum will see $7,400 to help with improvements at its new location on Tremonton’s Main Street. Another $1,350 will be spent by the descendants of the Borgstrom family to add an exhibit at the local museum.
The Borgstroms were a family from Thatcher who had four sons killed in 1944 during World War II, within six months of each other, a sacrifice few others have had to make. The planned exhibit will highlight the brothers and their service and will be a huge draw to the museum, board chairman Bob Davis said.
Other local projects getting a nod the advisory board include $15,000 for a Christmas light display for Tremonton City, $3,000 to upgrade the Old Barn Community Theatre and $5,000 to improve the restrooms at the Bothwell Park.
