A name like Tex seems to go hand in hand with the word country – and that’s okay with Box Elder County’s newest building official, Tex Couch.  “I guess I’m the country type.”
He is also a county native.  Couch grew up in Elwood with parents Dave and Brenda Couch and graduated from Bear River High School in 1995.  From there, although he worked in building inspection for the city of Syracuse for more than five years, he never migrated far from those country roots.
Couch, who lives at the other end of the county in South Willard with his wife Taunia, and young son, Hayden, was hired by commissioners in December to head the Building and Grounds Department.   For the country boy, it was a chance to “come back home and work with the people I grew up with.”
