Fred T. Doutre

NORTH OGDEN – Fred Thomas Doutre passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 from the side effects of chemotherapy.

Fred was born September 20, 1946 in Tremonton, Utah, the son of Lela and Edward Doutre. He lived on the family farm in Blue Creek during his early years, then moved to Tremonton. He attended schools in Tremonton and graduated from Bear River High School in 1964. He was Captain of the Football Team and on the Swimming Team. He was also a Bruins (Boys Club) Officer. Fred received Athletic and Academic Scholarships to Weber State University where he received an Associate’s Degree.

Fred married Kathy Lynn Peterson in Tremonton. They had twin sons which they raised together. They were later divorced.

Fred worked at Defense Depot Ogden and Hill Air Force Base as a supply systems analyst. He retired in May of 2003. He also served with the U.S. Army Reserves.

Fred especially enjoyed coaching Little League Football with his sons and grandson. He coached his sons through numerous winning seasons and three Mini Bowl Championships. He coached his grandson to a championship in 2008.

He enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing with his sons while they were growing up. Fred enjoyed hunting with his sons, grandson and other family members. He loved golfing with his kids, and was proud of his Hole-in-One. Fred enjoyed trap shooting with his sons. He enjoyed dinners with Marcia and his once a month lunch date with his friends at Hill AFB. (Thanks for being such good friends). Dad was the best friend and neighbor anyone could have. All summer long, he would barbeque for the whole neighborhood and in the winter, he got on his four-wheeler and pushed snow for dozens of people.

Fred was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed his callings as an Assistant Cub Master.

He was an amazing grandfather. His grandkids had many sleep over’s and Grandpa was there for all the Little League Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Soccer games and every dance recital.
Surviving are two sons, Ken (Lori) Doutre, Farr West; Kerry (Heather) Doutre, Riverdale; five grandchildren, Kaden, London, and Korbin, all of Farr West; Sarandon Dantley, Riverdale; one sister, Janet (Mark) Peavler, Tremonton; three brothers, Mike (Karen), Bob (Diane), Bill, and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Family will meet friends at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Tremonton City Cemetery.

ESTHER CAROLYN CHRISTOPHER


BRIGHAM CITY – Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend, Esther Carolyn Friend Christopher, 76, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010 in Brigham City from complications of a stroke.

Our mother was born on September 27, 1934 in Waukegan, Illinois, a daughter of William Raymond and Thelma Marie Beuchler Friend.

She spent her childhood in Illinois, Missouri, and Colorado. She graduated from Lyons High School in Lyons, Colorado in 1953.

Esther married Albert Leroy Christopher on January 28, 1955 in Limon, Colorado and became the mother of four small children between the ages of two and seven.

Esther and Albert then had six additional children; thus completing their family of five girls and five boys. Mom and Dad raised their large family in Colorado, Wyoming and then Utah.

Esther was a member of the Southern Baptist Church. Her and Albert enjoyed traveling through many states and later settled in Kansas. After Albert’s death she moved to Brigham City to be closer to the majority of her family.

Esther enjoyed scrapbooking, card making, Bunco (Japanese Embroidery) and spending time with her children, grandchildren, many friends at her apartment building and the senior center. She loved the many outings with her senior friends.

Surviving are her ten children: Pat (Dave) McCormick and Sherry Hayes both of Colorado; Don Christopher, Missouri; Terri Colleen (Rayland) Roche, Corinne; Janet (Dave) Keller; Tim (Theresa) Christopher; Tom (Julie) Christopher all of Brigham City; Bonnie Ellis, Elwood; Jim (Deb) Christopher, Kansas; Ken (Heidi) Christopher, Tremonton; 33 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, one brother, Ray Friend; two sisters, Jan Friend and June Watters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Albert, one granddaughter, Miranda Ellis, sister, Shirley; two son-in-laws, Chris Hayes and Kenny Ellis.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City.

Family will greet friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be at the Mt. View Cemetery in Longmont, Colorado at a later date.
